Ojukheon
Ojukheon is the perfect place to learn about two important characters in Korean history. One is Yulgok Yi, a prominent Confucian scholar of the Joseon Dynasty ,and the other is his mother,Sin Saimdang who is one of the most well-known women in Korean history. She was an artist, writer, calligraphist, and poet.
Their images are printed on Korean banknotes. Yulgok Yi’s image is on a Korean 5,000 won note and his mother Shin Saimdang's figure is on the 50,000 won note.
This is the shooting place for Saimdang, Memoir of Colors, a Korean drama starring Lee Young-ae. It aired in 2017.
If you visit Ojukheon, you are going to see beautiful scenery. It is a great place for a walk and a glimpse of the past in the Joseon Dynasty in South Korea.
